Interview preparation is vital: it shows the employer you’re serious about the job, and it gives you the confidence to display your best attributes. Here are our ‘top tips’ for the ideal interview:
  1. Do your homework. There are few things less impressive to an employer than candidates who haven’t taken enough interest in the role to learn about the company they’re applying to.
  2. Be on time. It is common courtesy to arrive promptly for any appointment, but it’s crucial for a job interview. After all, if you can’t turn up to the interview on time, why should the employer trust you to turn up to the job every day on time?
  3. Communicate with your interviewer: look him/her in the eye, smile, and speak to them, not at them.
  4. Ask questions. Show you’re interested in the job by enquiring about the company and its people.
  5. Don’t worry if you make a mistake - just apologise and move on.
