Top CV Tips

Your CV is the first impression you will make on your potential employer, so you need to make sure it’s a good one. Here are our ‘top tips’ for the perfect CV:

  1. Keep the length down. No-one wants to trawl through a 10 page CV. Aim for one or two A4 pages.
  2. Include a ‘career statement’ as a headline to your CV, summing up what you have to offer.
  3. Think like your employer – how will you bring value to the company? Emphasise within your CV the benefits you will bring.
  4. Presentation is everything. Use good quality stationery, and check your spelling. Make sure the information is laid out in a clear, usable format.
  5. Be honest. It may be tempting to ‘embellish’ or ‘omit’ particular details but you will get found out in the end.
