Your CV is the first impression you will make on your potential employer, so you need to make sure it’s a good one. Here are our ‘top tips’ for the perfect CV:
- Keep the length down. No-one wants to trawl through a 10 page CV. Aim for one or two A4 pages.
- Include a ‘career statement’ as a headline to your CV, summing up what you have to offer.
- Think like your employer – how will you bring value to the company? Emphasise within your CV the benefits you will bring.
- Presentation is everything. Use good quality stationery, and check your spelling. Make sure the information is laid out in a clear, usable format.
- Be honest. It may be tempting to ‘embellish’ or ‘omit’ particular details but you will get found out in the end.
